About King Cruiser Wreck Dive Trip in Phuket, Thailand
The King Cruiser Wreck dive trip in Phuket, Thailand offers one of the most thrilling underwater experiences in the region. The King Cruiser was a passenger ferry that sank in 1997 after striking Anemone Reef. Today, it rests at a depth of 32 meters (105 feet) and has transformed into a popular dive site teeming with marine life and vibrant corals.
Diving at the King Cruiser wreck is suitable for Advanced Open Water Divers and above, due to the depth and occasional strong currents. However, for those with the appropriate certification, this dive is an unforgettable experience, offering a chance to explore the remnants of the 85-meter (279-foot) vessel.
The wreck has become a thriving artificial reef, attracting a wide variety of marine species. Divers can spot schools of barracuda, snapper, and lionfish around the structure, as well as moray eels and scorpionfish hiding within the crevices of the wreck. The structure itself is now covered in soft corals and sponges, creating a colorful and dynamic underwater landscape.
Visibility at the King Cruiser Wreck is generally good, ranging from 10 to 20 meters (33 to 66 feet), depending on the season. The wreck’s upper decks sit at around 18 meters (60 feet), making it accessible for longer exploration, while the deeper parts offer more advanced divers the chance to delve into the lower sections of the wreck.
Located near other famous dive sites like Shark Point and Anemone Reef, the King Cruiser dive trip can easily be combined with dives at these nearby locations, making it a fantastic addition to any Phuket dive itinerary.
